Man Injured After Car Crashes into Truck Transporting Asphalt in Carpentersville

Carpentersville, PA (July 26, 2017) – A truck transporting asphalt collided with a car in Carpentersville. The driver of the car had to be airlifted to a hospital by a Flight for Life helicopter.

The crash happened before 11:30 am while both vehicles were headed south on Route 25, right before the intersection of Route 68, where the car rear-ended the truck, police said.

The man driving the car was air lifted to a hospital by a Flight for Life helicopter from the parking lot of the Dundee Township Park District Family Aquatic Center at midday Monday.

The man’s injuries were not life-threatening and the driver of the truck was not injured.
Six departments worked smoothly together to get the man out of the car and into the helicopter, police said. They were Carpentersville Police and Fire Department, East Dundee Police assisting with the call and East Dundee and West Dundee Fire Department.

The staff at Dundee Township Park District’s Dolphin Cove Family Aquatic Center instantly cleared the parking lot of the Center which was close to the area of the crash.

The accident still remains under investigation.

Manheim, Pennsylvania, (July 26, 2017) – A 27-year-old mother was killed in a car, tractor-trailer crash on Route 72, south of Manheim, Pennsylvania, Police said.

2 infants, 18 months and 3 years old, were rescued from the back seat of a silver, 4-door sedan which came to a standstill, under the rear tractor-trailer tires, a witness stated.

The car had crossed the center line and crashed into the tractor-trailer. The truck was heading south while the car was heading north when the collision occurred at 9:15 am, July 24, 2017, across the street from Morgan Automotive.

The 18-month tot was taken to Lancaster General Hospital for treatment and expected to be released later Monday afternoon, said Police.

The older tot, in critical condition, was taken to Hershey Medical Center and underwent surgery, according to Northern Lancaster County Police.

The name of the mother is being withheld until family members are notified. She had just moved to Manheim very recently.

Carlos Rodriguez, 47-year-old driver of the tractor-trailer from Lancaster was taken to the Heart of Lancaster with minor injuries.

The cause of the collision is still unknown and the investigation is ongoing, said police.

Route 72 between Bucknoll and Sun Hill roads were closed by police. Power lines were down, telephone poles were broken, and the PPL power was out for 15 customers, said the PPL Outage Center. The power is expected to be back up by 9 pm this evening.

Tractor-trailer driver, Carlos Rodriguez said that there was nothing he could do because she pulled right in front of his truck.

The incident occurred at 9:30 a.m. on the southbound Blue Route is also known as I-476.

As per Action News, a tractor-trailer crashed with another car jamming traffic on I-476.

At least one person was injured. The extent of injuries to the person was not known.

Traffic on I-476 South was reported to be at a virtual standstill. Two right lanes were blocked between the exits for Norristown and I-76.

Lanes were still restricted after the crash for more than one hour.

An investigation into the crash is still ongoing.

Richland Township, Pennsylvania (July 25, 2017) – A 31-year-old man’s life was cut short early Sunday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Richland Township, as per a local news source.

Richland Township Police are investigating the crash which occurred at 1:20 a.m. Sunday, July 23 on the Route 56 bypass.

Joseph S. Surgent, a resident of Johnstown, was killed when his vehicle collided head-on with another along a one-way westbound stretch of the road.

Surgent died at the scene after sustaining fatal injuries. An autopsy confirmed that he had sustained multiple blunt force injuries in the accident. Police said that he was not wearing a seatbelt when the accident occurred and was partially ejected from his vehicle. The other car had two occupants, an unidentified driver, and a child. They were both injured and were taken to Conemaugh Memorial  Medical Center for the treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The report did not indicate who was traveling in the wrong direction.

Westbound lanes of Route 56 were closed for several hours following the crash.

Camden, PA (July 23, 2017) – Two people were injured after a Smyrna man in a stolen car led police on a chase that ended in a crash in Camden Tuesday night, according to the police.

The police pursuit started at about 10:07 p.m. July 18, on U.S. Route 13 at South Governors Avenue, when a trooper saw a 2013 Toyota Prius traveling south on Route 13 that was stolen on May 22 from a residence in New Castle County.

The Toyota struck a red light at the intersection of Thomas Harmon Drive near the Camden Walmart. The Toyota was then hit on the passenger’s side by a 2016 Infiniti QX70. The Toyota stopped in the grass on the shoulder of the road south of the intersection.

Kyree A. Custis, 26, and a male passenger, 31, in the Toyota were injured and hospitalized in Bayhealth Kent General Hospital where they treated with non-life-threatening injuries and released. A Dover man, 40, driving the Infiniti was not injured.

Custis was taken into custody. The passenger in the Toyota wasn’t charged with any crimes.

The crash remained under an investigation.

30-year-old Sean Patrick Granger of Douglassville was hit at around 10:30 p.m. Saturday, July 22 on eastbound lanes of Schuylkill Expressway near Montgomery Drive off ramp.

Granger died at the scene after sustaining fatal injuries.

According to authorities, the suspect did not stop but fled the scene after the collision. The suspect vehicle was described as a late model, dark colored Nissan with damage to the front passenger side and the windshield.
