Brookville Man Injured in Crash On I-80 in Venango

Venango County, PA (August 11, 2017) – Details have emerged of a Thursday afternoon crash that left one person seriously injured on the Interstate 80 East.

According to reports, the crash occurred on August 3, 2017, involving Benjamin E. Nixon, 32, of Brookville and 52-year-old David Kavleli of Brooklyn, New York.

It is reported that the collision happened when a 2013 Dodge Durango, driven by Nixon was traveling eastbound on I-80 when it struck a 2016 Freightliner being driven by Kavleli. Kavleli’s vehicle had slowed down for an upcoming construction zone.

The impact caused the Durango to veer off coming to rest about 30 feet away from the point of collision.

Clintonville Volunteer Fire Department, Emlenton Ambulance, STAT MedEvac and Franklin-based State Police responded to the incident

Nixon sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Saint Elizabeth’s hospital

Kavleli, who was wearing a seatbelt was not injured

The Durango was towed away from the scene by Hovis Auto Wrecking

The scene was cleared just after 4 p.m.
